Sant Kirpal Singh KIRPAL SINGH

Sant Kirpal Singh is considered one of the greatest Masters of Spirituality and life of all time.
He was born on February 6th, 1894 at Sayyad Kasran, in northern India, now in Pakistan.
From an early age he dedicated his life to God and to searching for God, which is the highest purpose of existence.

In 1924 he met his Master, Sawan Singh, who initiated him into the practice of the highest spiritual discipline, Universal Meditation, and at the moment of leaving his mortal remains, in 1948, he entrusted him with the task of continuing his mission.

After having retired in 1946 from a position of significant responsibility as an Indian Government official, Kirpal Singh settled in New Delhi, where in 1951 he built the Sawan Ashram.

He wrote many books of fundamental importance for modern people, spanning the entire spiritual, religious and moral field, now translated in many languages.

Several of his speeches are also published in the Spirituality Magazine "The Source / La Sorgente", published in English and in Italian.

He undertook three extensive journeys around the world (in 1955, 1963 and 1972), for the first time taking Universal Meditation throughout the West and the Americas and meeting heads of state and religious leaders, including Pope Paul VI and the Patriarch of the Eastern Orthodox Churches, Athenagoras.

In 1957 he was elected President of the World Fellowship of Religions, an organization recognized by UNESCO and which includes all the world's major religions. He held this position until 1971 and in this capacity he convened four world conferences.

In 1962 he was the first non-Christian to be awarded the Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Knights of Malta).

He was received by Prime Minister Nehru of India and established a personal relationship with him, which then continued with the succeeding Prime Ministers, Shastri and Indira Gandhi.

Starting in 1970 he was personally involved in the building of the Manav Kendra (Man Center), at Dehra Dun, in the foothills of the Himalayas, a prototype of a self-sustaining center of great relevance for humanity in our time, including land to cultivate, a farm, a hospital, an elementary school, a home for the elderly and a library, in which all differences of race, social class and religious tradition cease in order to give place to the authentic unity of the great human family, under the Fatherhood of the one and only God of all.

In February 1974 Kirpal Singh organized the first World Conference on Unity of Man, attended by some 2,000 delegates from all over the world, religious leaders and politicians.

He was the only Master of the Spirit to have the honor of speaking, on August 1st, 1974, to the Indian Parliament.

That same month, on August 21st, 1974, at 80 years of age, the great Master left his mortal remains, to return to the Realm of endless Bliss from where he had descended.
